The Houston AI Visibility Index: How Houston Businesses Score in AI Search

What Is the Houston AI Visibility Index?

The Houston AI Visibility Index is a measurement project from Deep AI Solutions, a Houston company at 3050 Post Oak Blvd. It answers one question with data instead of guesses: when someone asks an AI assistant for a business like yours, do you show up?

Here is exactly where the data stands. Our national AI Visibility Index is live right now at deepaivisibility.com/ai-visibility-index, currently covering HVAC and plumbing companies. Every number on it comes from real multi-engine scan harness runs. Not surveys. Not estimates. Actual queries run against actual AI systems, recorded and scored.

The Houston edition works the same way, one business at a time: the same harness scores any Houston business on request, free. We do not publish a Houston leaderboard we have not measured, and we will not invent one to fill a page. The scan comes first. The rankings follow the data.

How Does the AIR Score Work?

The AIR Score (a trademark of Deep AI Solutions Inc) is a composite score from 0 to 100. It measures three things across five AI systems: ChatGPT (OpenAI), Claude (Anthropic), Gemini (Google), Grok (xAI), and Perplexity.

  • Mention. Does the engine know your business exists? When asked about your category in your market, does your name appear at all? If you are wondering about your own business, start with does ChatGPT know about my business.
  • Recommendation. Being known is not being chosen. This dimension measures whether the engine actively recommends you when a buyer asks who to hire.
  • Sentiment. What the engine says when it names you. A mention framed with hedges and complaints scores differently than a confident recommendation.

Five engines matter because they disagree. Each pulls from different sources, so a business can be strong in Perplexity and absent from ChatGPT. One concrete example: ChatGPT's search-grounded answers run against Bing's index. If Bing has not indexed you, ChatGPT cannot cite you. One score across all five shows the whole picture.

Why Does AI Visibility Need Its Own Index?

Because the old dashboards cannot see this traffic.

Google AI Overviews now appear in roughly half of Google searches (D&D SEO Services, 2026). Roughly 1 in 3 U.S. adults uses an AI chatbot at least weekly (Pew Research via iQDigital, 2026). That is a real slice of Houston buyers getting answers before they ever see a list of blue links.

Here is the measurement gap. City-modified AI search terms show near-zero tracked volume industry-wide, not because nobody is looking, but because buyers ask AI assistants conversationally instead of typing keywords. Your rank tracker reports nothing while ChatGPT recommends your competitor by name. Meanwhile, demand for the category itself is surging: searches for "ai seo" are up 84% year over year and "generative engine optimization" is up 309% (SE Ranking, mid-2026), and the AI-visibility keyword cluster carries the highest advertiser CPCs in the entire AI-search space, $12.66 to $16.30 per click (SE Ranking via WebPossible).

Advertisers pay those rates because the answer layer is where decisions happen now. We built the index to measure it directly. For the full comparison, see Houston SEO vs. AI visibility.

What Does a Low AIR Score Cost a Houston Service Business?

Run the math on a missed opportunity first. Home-service businesses miss 27–62% of inbound calls, and each missed service call costs $275–$1,200 (Invoca research compiled by Brilo AI, 2026). Every operator already knows that pain: the phone rang, nobody grabbed it, the job went elsewhere.

A low AIR Score is the same loss with no ring. The homeowner with a dead AC at 9 PM asks ChatGPT who to call. If your business never appears in the answer, you did not miss the call. The call was never yours to miss. At $275–$1,200 per lost opportunity, invisibility compounds quietly, week after week, and nothing in your call log shows it.

There is early directional evidence on the flip side: SuperDupr's Houston agency guide reports Energy Corridor agencies that adopted AEO and GEO seeing a 20–40% lift in qualified inbound. That is a single-source claim, so treat it as directional rather than gospel. But the mechanism is plain. If you suspect you are on the wrong side of this, read why isn't my business showing up in ChatGPT, then get scored.

Why Publish Original Data Instead of Just Selling Services?

Because publishing original data is itself the strategy AI engines reward, and we run the playbook we sell.

GrowingAI (2026) found that 71.7% of ChatGPT citations come from pages with organic search presence. iQDigital (2026) found FAQ-schema content gets cited roughly 3x more often in Google AI Overviews than unmarked content, and that pages untouched for about 90 days see measurably fewer citations. So the pages AI engines cite are established, structured, and fresh. Original data hits all three: it earns links, it structures cleanly, and live scan results refresh it continuously.

That is why the index exists as a public asset rather than a sales deck. When an AI engine needs a source on AI visibility in Houston, we intend to be the one that published the numbers.

The field is open. DesignRush lists 63 "AI companies in Houston," and nearly all build software or automation. None specialize in AI visibility. We are new, Houston-native, and data-first, and we would rather show you a working scanner than a slogan. Our full approach is at AI SEO for Houston businesses and services.

How Do You Get Your Houston Business Scored?

Two ways, both free, both fast.

  • Run the instant scan. Go to deepaivisibility.com/#scanner and enter your business. The same harness behind the national index runs your queries across the five engines and returns your standing.
  • Call 281-937-DEEP. Dial +1-281-937-3337 any hour. Jack, our own AI voice agent, answers 24/7 and takes your scan request on the spot. That is not a gimmick. It is proof we run the technology we sell, at 3 AM on a Sunday included.

Your score comes back as a 0–100 AIR Score with the mention, recommendation, and sentiment detail behind it. If the number is low, the fix is a defined program, and we will show you exactly what it involves. Vertical programs across our fleet run $1,499–$7,499 per month depending on industry and market. Start with how to get recommended by ChatGPT in Houston to see what the work looks like.

The scan costs nothing. Not knowing your score is the expensive option.

Frequently asked questions

What is the AIR Score?

AIR Score is a trademark of Deep AI Solutions Inc. It is a 0–100 composite that measures three things: whether AI engines mention your business, whether they actively recommend it, and the sentiment attached when they do. Every score comes from real scan harness runs across five AI systems: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok, and Perplexity. It is a measurement, not an estimate.

Is there published Houston ranking data yet?

Not yet, and we will not fake it. The national AI Visibility Index is live with real scan data at deepaivisibility.com/ai-visibility-index, currently covering HVAC and plumbing. Houston businesses are scored on request using the same harness. When we publish Houston data, it will be built from actual multi-engine scans, the same way the national edition was.

Which AI engines does the index cover?

Five: ChatGPT from OpenAI, Claude from Anthropic, Gemini from Google, Grok from xAI, and Perplexity. Each engine answers differently because each pulls from different sources. One example: ChatGPT's search-grounded answers run against Bing's index, so a business missing from Bing cannot be cited there no matter how well it ranks on Google. The AIR Score captures those differences in one number.

How much does invisibility in AI search cost a Houston service business?

Start with what a single missed opportunity is worth. Home-service businesses already miss 27–62% of inbound calls, and each missed service call costs $275–$1,200 according to Invoca research compiled by Brilo AI (2026). AI invisibility is worse than a missed call, because the phone never rings at all. The customer asked ChatGPT, got a competitor's name, and called them instead.

Does regular SEO still matter if AI visibility is the new game?

Yes. GrowingAI (2026) found 71.7% of ChatGPT citations come from pages that already have organic search presence. AI visibility builds on SEO rather than replacing it. The difference is what you optimize for: iQDigital (2026) found FAQ-schema content is cited roughly 3x more in Google AI Overviews, and pages untouched for about 90 days see measurably fewer citations.
